SLBEF COMMITTEES

One of the highest honors within our fraternity is the opportunity to volunteer your time and talent to Sigma Lambda Beta’s Education Foundation (SLBEF). Following are descriptions as well as the requirements and expectations of our volunteer committee positions. SLBEF COMMITTEES

SLBEF committees exist to tactically execute on the direction of the SLBEF Board of Trustees. Committee member’s talents should align with the purpose of the committee.  Following are the existing committees:​

  • Communications: Creates and executes SLBEF’s communications plan, enhancing our social media presence, and creatively sharing efforts of the Foundation.

  • Engagement: Continuously strives to improve SLBEF's engagement with current contributors, potential contributors and all brothers of Sigma Lambda Beta through the recommendation of people, process, data, and/or technology solutions that they or other committees execute. 

  • Finance: Creates and maintains SLBEF's fiscal policies, manages the ESF program, and executes desired financial analysis.

  • Giving: Creates and maintains SLBEF's approach to grants and scholarships, works with SLB brothers and entities to execute and provide funding. 

  • Website: Maintains SLBEF's web presence, provides front and back-end service and support to the contribution portal.

Alvaro Munoz

Alvaro Munoz, an alumnus of the Enduring Sigma Epsilon chapter at Dickinson College, born and raised from South Central Los Angeles and holds a bachelor's degree in Educational Studies. He currently serves as a College Adviser for UCLA's EAOP DCAC program at Washington Prep High School, also located in South Central Los Angeles. Following his graduation, Alvaro became an active member of the Dickinson College LatinX Alumni Network and has been consistently seeking avenues to support the Brotherhood on the West Coast. Committed to giving back to both the Brotherhood and his alma mater, he is focused on making meaningful contributions as an engaged alumnus.

ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE

FINANCE COMMITTEE

RICK ZAMUDIO

Rick Zamudio is an alumnus of the Alpha Chapter at the University of Iowa, where he served a year as Judicial Chancellor on the chapter’s Executive Board. He graduated with a BS in Electrical & Computer Engineering, as well as minors in business, math, and computer science. He is currently employed at State Farm as a lead software engineer.

Committee Member Requirements and Expectations

Requirements to be a SLBEF committee member:

  • A brother of Sigma Lambda Beta, in good standing.

  • Able to demonstrate the knowledge/skills needed to be a successful committee member.

  • A working knowledge of the Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation, the structure of the committee, and a willingness to deepen that knowledge.

  • Agreement and willingness to meet the stated expectations and work approach of the committee.

  • Agreement and willingness to serve as a member of the committee for a minimum of 2-years.

 

Committee member expectations:

  • Understand the committee’s purpose, goals, work items, as well as your role on the committee.

  • Understand how your committee fits into the overall Foundation board structure.

  • Understand you are always representing the SLB Education Foundation.

  • Actively attend and engage in all committee meetings.

  • Give the courtesy of a 4-day or shorter turnaround time when responding to Foundation related emails, texts, etc.

  • Take ownership of your work items and drive them towards completion.

  • Collaborate with other BOT or committee members proactively as needed.

  • Consistently deliver with quality.

  • On-going actions demonstrate your willingness to give the Foundation each of your 3T's: Time, Talent, and Treasure.

  • Actively engage and provide input into all Foundation related activities.
